This article provides steps on how to backup a binary and ASCII configuration file to a TFTP server using CLI
Environment
  • VSP 7024
  • ERS 5000
  • ERS 4000
  • ERS 3000
  • All supported releases
Procedure
Binary configuration
  1. Login to switch
  2. Type enable
  3. Type copy config tftp address <IP_ADDRESS> filename <FILENAME>
ERS#copy config tftp address 10.139.46.89 filename switch.bin
% Writing configuration file. Current physical ID is 1
% Writing configuration file. Current physical ID is 2
% Configuration file successfully written.
ERS#

ASCII configuration
  1. Login to switch
  2. Type enable
  3. Type copy running-config tftp address <IP_ADDRESS> filename <FILENAME>​​​​​​​
ERS#copy running-config tftp address 10.139.46.89 filename switch.ascii
% Generating ASCII Configuration
% Contacting TFTP host: 10.139.46.89
% Writing ASCII configuration file:  switch.ascii
% ACG configuration generation completed
ERS#
