Objective
How to find MIB files and poll CPU and memory utilization for ERS switches running BOSS releases.
Environment
  • ERS 3500
  • ERS 3600
  • ERS 4800
  • ERS 4900
  • ERS 5900
  • All BOSS releases
Procedure
  1. Download  MIB file "Ethernet_Routing_Switch_<platform>_MIBs_<release>.zip" file for ERS BOSS platform and software required (example: Ethernet_Routing_Switch_5900_MIBs_7.5)
  2. Use following MIB's or OID (Object Identifier) for CPU and Memory utilization
  • CPU Utilization 
    s5ChasUtilTotalCPUUsage OBJECT-TYPE 
    SYNTAX Gauge32 (0..100) 
    MAX-ACCESS read-only 
    STATUS current 
    DESCRIPTION 
    "This object returns the percentage of time the CPU has been 
    busy since system initialization." 
    ::= {s5ChasUtilEntry 4} 
    OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.8.1.1.4
 
  • Memory 
    s5ChasUtilMemoryAvailable OBJECT-TYPE 
    SYNTAX Gauge32 (0..100) 
    MAX-ACCESS read-only 
    STATUS current 
    DESCRIPTION 
    "This object returns the percentage of dynamic memory that 
    is currently free. This is measured as a percentage of 
    the memory the was available immediately after system 
    initialization."
