Objective
  • Override specific DNS host using DNS Forwarder Host Override feature.
Environment
  • Identity Engines Access Portal
  • Software Release 9.3.2
Procedure
Identity Engines Access Portal does not formally support the Services -> DNS Forwarder -> Host Override sub feature however it is possible using the following steps to add or remove entries to this section.
  • To ADD entries,
  1. Access the Access Portal admin Web GUI.
  2. Click Services -> DNS Forwarder.
  3. Change the URL in the address bar to /services_dnsmasq_edit.php?id=<number>, where <number> represents the next available unused index number.
For example, if there are already three entries present the next available index number is 2. Indexing starts at 0.
  1. Add the Host, Domain, IP address and (optional) Description.
  2. Click Save.
  • To REMOVE entries,
  1. Access the Access Portal admin Web GUI.
  2. Click Services -> DNS Forwarder.
  3. Change the URL in the address bar to /services_dnsmasq.php?type=host&act=del&id=<number>, where <number> represents the index number to be removed.
For example, if the fifth entry needs to be removed the index number is 4. Indexing starts at 0.
  1. Press <enter> on the address bar to effect the change.
Additional notes
The above procedure provides this added functionality that currently is not offered with the shipping Access Portal solution. Please note that use of this functionality is not officially supported by Extreme but is being provided as a courtesy.

NOTE: Index 0 is reserved for use with the Social Media feature and should not be overwritten.
