Objective
Setting up a port mirror on the MLX or the CES/CER.
Environment
  • NetIron
  • MLX
  • CES/CER
Procedure
  1. Type enable to allow enable mode
  2. Type conf t to enter configuration mode
  3. Configure the port mirror destination. This is the port the packet analyser is connected to: mirror-port ethernet <PORT_NUMBER>
  4. Configure the interface packets will be captured from: interface ethernet <PORT_NUMBER>
  5. Configure the monitor command with the mirror port interface. Choose either input traffic, output traffic or bi-directional traffic: monitor ethernet <PORT_NUMBER> <BOTH/INPUT/OUTPUT>
Additional notes
The procedure in context is below. The mirror port should be the same or greater speed as the monitored interface to avoid port congestion.

telnet@router(config)#mirror-port ethernet 1/1
telnet@router(config)#interface ethernet 1/2
telnet@router(config-if-e10000-1/2)#monitor ethernet 1/1 ?
