Objective
  • Import a bulk set of users or devices via CSV (Comma Separated Value) file.
  • Import a bulk set of users or devices via REST API call.
Environment
  • Extreme Guest & IoT Manager (GIM)
  • Extreme Control (NAC)
  • Software Release 8.3.0.111 and above
Procedure
There are two means to import users in bulk, either by iterative REST API calls via a script or by import of pre-populated CSV file.

METHOD ONE - CSV

NOTE: This procedure is supported in GIM 8.3.0.111 and above.
  1. Log in to GIM admin console (https://<GIM_IP>/GIM/admin).
  2. Click Onboarding Templates.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Under Common -> Onboarding Template Type, select "Guest User and Device Provisioning using Voucher/CSV".
  5. Configure the template as desired; click Save when done.
  6. Click Provisioners.
  7. Under Internal Provisioners, click Add or Edit and existing record.
  8. Modify the internal provisioner as desired, selecting the CSV template created in Step 5 under "Member of Onboarding Template(s):"
  9. Click Save.
 
  1. Log in to GIM provisioner console (https://<GIM_IP>/GIM/provisioner) using the internal provisioner in step 8 above.
  2. Click Guests or Devices.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select the Onboarding Template created in Step 5 above.
  5. Select "Upload File with Guest User Details" under Voucher Creation Input Type.
  6. Click Browse or manually specify the location of the CSV file to import.
  7. Modify the remaining options as desired; click Save when done.

METHOD TWO - REST API

  1. Log in to GIM admin console (https://<GIM_IP>/GIM/admin).
  2. Click Onboarding Templates.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Under Common -> Onboarding Template Type, select "Guest User and Device Provisioning using API".
  5. Configure the template as desired; click Save when done.
  6. Click Provisioners.
  7. Under Internal Provisioners, click Add or Edit and existing record.
  8. Modify the internal provisioner as desired, selecting the CSV template created in Step 5 under "Member of Onboarding Template(s):"
  9. Click Save.
