Objective
Adding a VOSS Switch to ExtremeCloud IQ
Environment
  • XA-1440
  • XA-1480
  • VSP4900-48P
  • VSP7400-32C
  • VSP7400-48Y
  • Running software version 8.1.1.0 or above
Procedure
Pre-requisites:
  • VOSS firmware running on 8.1.1.0 or above
  • The switch must have access to the Internet
  • If a proxy is being used in the network, get applicable information, such as IP address, password, and tcp-port.
  • Must have a Segmented Management Instance VLAN or CLIP IP*. IQ Agent requires this to connect to the Cloud.
Device Configuration
  • Create Segmented Management Intanace VLAN
VOSS_Switch:1>enable
VOSS_Switch:1#configure terminal
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#vlan members remove 1 <PORT_NUMBER>
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#vlan create <VLAN_ID> type port-mstprstp 0
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#vlan members <VLAN_ID> <PORT_NUMBER> portmember
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#mgmt vlan <VLAN_ID>
VOSS_Switch:1(mgmt:vlan)#ip address <IP_ADDRESS>/<SUBNET_MASK>
VOSS_Switch:1(mgmt:vlan)#ip route 0.0.0.0/0 next-hop <NEXT_HOP_IP> weight 10
VOSS_Switch:1(mgmt:vlan)#enable
VOSS_Switch:1(mgmt:vlan)#exit
  • Enable IQ Agent:
Login to the device configuration mode and issue below commands
VOSS_Switch:1>enable
VOSS_Switch:1#configure terminal
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#application
VOSS_Switch:1(config-app)#iqagent enable
VOSS_Switch:1(config-app)#exit
This will enable the application service to start a resolution to hac.extremecloudiq.com and ultimately onboard to XIQ
  • Configure DNS
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#ip name-server primary <IP_ADDRESS>
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#ip name-server secondary <IP_ADDRESS> (optional)
DNS will be required for VOSS Switches to connect to the Cloud by resolving hac.extremecloudiq.com (resolution is 34.253.190.195)
  • Configure Proxy Parameters (Optional)
VOSS_Switch:1(config)#application
VOSS_Switch:1(config-app)#igagent proxy address <IP_ADDRESS> tcp-port <1-49151>
VOSS_Switch:1(config-app)#iqagent proxy username <USERNAME> password <PASSWORD>
VOSS_Switch:1(config-app)#exit
  • Verification
Use below command to verify the IQ Agent status
VOSS_Switch:1#show application iqagent

Make sure the Agent Admin State is true and verify rest of the other configured parameters

NOTE: The operational state will be in the "disconnected" state until the XIQ is connected to it.

ExtremeCloud IQ VOSS Onboarding:
  • Log in to https://extremecloudiq.com
  • If you have multiple VIQs mapped to your email address, you either select your own VIQ under ‘Manage My Network” or the VIQ in the right hand where you are an administrator

  • Once logged in go to Manage >> Add >> Quick Add Devices >> Select VOSS >> Enter Serial number of the device >> Click "ADD DEVICES", as shown below:

If you don't see the VOSS option available, open up a new tab and enter the below URL:

https://<rdc>.extremecloudiq.com/?voss=true#/devices

NOTE: Replace <rdc> with your appropriate Regional Data Center. For Example, for India, it's 'in' and for Japan, its 'jp', etc. So the URL will be https://in.extremecloudiq.com/?voss=true#/devices and https://jp.extremecloudiq.com/?voss=true#/devices for India and Japan respectively.
  • Another way of onboarding the device is to select the icon (highlighted) located on the right-hand side of the screen

Select “VOSS” tab prior to entering the Serial Number of the VOSS Switch.

Hit "Next" >> Skip the irrelevant steps as required and finish the onboarding process.

NOTE: Run command "show sys-info" on the VOSS device to get the serial number of the device.
  • Once connected to XIQ you will see the status change from Red to Green. It could take approx 5 minutes for the redirector (hac.extremenetworks.com ) to redirect the VOSS Switch to that particular VIQ.

Verification
  • Login into https://extremecloudiq.com/login with email and password and verify that the device is added and in Green status
  • This is also be checked from the device end. Run the below commands to check the status:

The VOSS device is now successfully on-boarded to ExtremeCloudIQ
Additional notes
For Software version 8.1.1.0 use keyword "cloud-iq" instead of "iqagent" in the show and configuration commands.
