TitleCER - How to clear configuration to default in the boot menu
Objective
Explain procedure to restore configuration to factory defaults from a console connection during the boot process
Environment
  • CER/CES
  • All firmware version
  • Serial/Console connected
Procedure
  • Reboot the switch while connected to the console port with a terminal running.  You will see the below output.  Press "b" and enter "monitor" mode when the option appears:
NetIron CE 2000 Boot Code Version 5.8.0
Enter 'a' to stop at memory test
Enter 'b' to stop at boot monitor
***** Interrupted by entering 'b' *****
BOOT INFO: load monitor from code flash, cksum = d5b7
BOOT INFO: verify flash files - max_code_flash_blocks[254].............

Note: Your prompt will read "Monitor>", as seen above.
  • Enter "dir" to see flash files and confirm appearance of "startup-config":

Additional notes
Ensure that you save your configuration after you make changes so the switch creates a new "startup-config" file:
