How to Increase Subnet Range on 7100, N-Series S-Series, and K-Series
Environment
  • Single 7100 Core Router
  • DHCP Server
  • Firewall
Procedure
Option 1:
Change subnet mask on routed interface
Router
Config
Interface vlan.XXX
no ip address 10.10.10.254 255.255.252.0
ip address 10.10.10.254 255.255.248.0
no shutdown
exit


Option 2:
Add secondary subnet to router interface.
Router
Config
Interface vlan.XXX
ip address 10.10.20.254 255.255.252.0 secondary
no shutdown
exit

Remember to change mask on DHCP Server for Option 1 and create a Superscope for option 2
Remember to change the mask on the firewall subnet for option 1 or add a static route to the firewall for the new subnet in option 2
