TitleHow To Configure LLDP on 200-Series
Objective
Recommended LLDP configuration for the 200-Series
Environment
200-Series
Procedure
  • Sample Configuration of LLDP:
lldp transmit-tlv port-desc
lldp transmit-tlv sys-name
lldp transmit-tlv sys-desc
lldp transmit-tlv sys-cap
lldp transmit-mgmt
lldp portid-subtype interface-name
show voice vlan interface all

            NOTE: The last command "lldp portid-subtype interface-name" configures the switch to send the local port information in the LLDP packet and not MAC Address information and is required for EMC to display ports correctly in maps.
  • Example of how LLDP information looks on neighboring switch when "lldp portid-subtype mac-address” is set (which is the default value in the interface) which is reflected in the Port ID Column:
C5(su)->show neighbor

  Port       Device ID            Port ID            Type       Network Address
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ge.1.1      1703N-40004                               ciscodp      10.58.1.220
ge.1.1      00:04:96:9B:EA:9C    00-04-96-9B-EA-9E    lldp
  • Example of how LLDP information looks on neighboring switch when "“lldp portid-subtype interface-name” is set (which is the non-default value) which is reflected in the Port ID Column:

C5(su)->show neighbor

  Port       Device ID               Port ID           Type       Network Address
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ge.1.1      1703N-40004                                ciscodp      10.58.1.220
ge.1.1      00:04:96:9B:EA:9C         1/0/1            lldp         10.58.1.220
