Information

TitleHow To Filter Multicast Groups on the S-Series when Routing with PIM
Objective
The following configuration filters multicast joins on the interface on which it is applied, preventing the multicast group from being routed. It is a white list, meaning the ACL allows the multicast groups in the list and denies all others, so each group that needs to be routed must manually be entered to the access list.

Environment
S-Series

Procedure
1. Configure a standard ACL with the groups allowed to cross the interface.

ip access-list standard AllowGroups
permit host 239.1.2.3 log
exit

2. Apply the filter to the interface where you want to filter joins from all but the groups specified in the ACL

interface vlan.0.50
ip address 192.168.50.254 255.255.255.0 primary
ip pim sparse-mode
ip pim asm-join-filter AllowGroups
exit
