TitleHow To Configure VRRP on a S-Series?
Objective
How do I configure VRRP on a S-Series?
Environment
  • S-Series
  • All Firmware
Procedure
A sample VRRP configuration is listed below:

Core 1
interface vlan.0.100
ip address 100.100.100.1 255.255.255.0 primary
vrrp authentication simple 1234
vrrp create 2 v3-IPv4
vrrp address 2 100.100.100.2
vrrp enable 2
no shutdown
exit
Core 2
interface vlan.0.100
ip address 100.100.100.1 255.255.255.0 primary
vrrp authentication simple 1234
vrrp create 2 v3-IPv4
vrrp address 2 100.100.100.1
vrrp enable 2
no shutdown
exit
The preferred VRRP design would be to use a Virtual Address, and if that is the case the change would be as follows:
vrrp address 2 100.100.100.3

Additional notes
  • VRRP compliant routers can interoperate  with other vendors
  • A VRRP Master can backup more than one router
