Environment

  • Virtual controller

  • WebUI
  • Captive Portal
  • Linux compatible .tar file application such we WinAce or IZArc. Tar files created by Windows applications may not be compatible. 
Procedure
Prerequisites:
  1. Download and modify the captive portal pages
  2. Compress pages (including logo) into .tar file using a Linux based compression software 
These steps outline the process to follow in order to distribute the customized files to all captive portal hosting APs:

From CLI
  1. SSH into the controller/virtual controller and upload the .tar file:
>en
#copy tftp://<tftp_ip_address>/<filename.tar> flash:/hotspot/<captive_policy_nam>
  1. Verify that they have been properly uploaded:
#cd flash:/hotspot/<captive_policy_nam>
#dir
  1. Distribute pages to all APs:
>en
#conf t
#captive-portal <CP_name>
#webpage-auto-upload
#com wr

From WebUI:
  1. Upload the .tar file to the controller/virtual controller:
Go to Operations >> Devices >> Expand tree and select the virtual controller >> Captive_Portal_Distributed_Pages >> CP Page Image File >> Captive_Portal_List: Select the captive portal policy from the drop down list >> Enter tftp IP address and file name >> Load image >> You will receive a confirmation upon successful upload.

  1. Distribute pages to APs:
Once the .tar archive has been uploaded to the Controller(s), modify the captive portal policy and enable the Web Page Auto Upload option. Note that this only applies when the Advanced web page source option is selected. Click OK then Exit: Configuration >> Services >> Captive Portals >> Select Captive Portal Policy >> Edit >> Web Page >> Web page Source >> Captive_Portal_Webpage_Advance >> Web Page Auto Upload: Check box >> OK >> Commit and Save
