Objective

 How To Configure Dynamic LAGs with LACP

Environment

  • A-Series
  • B-Series
  • C-Series
  • D-Series
  • G-Series
  • N-Series
  • S-Series
  • K-Series
  • Securestack (optional)
  • LACP
  • LAG
  • 802.3ad
Procedure
1) Ensure the LAG port being used has correct VLAN settings as underlying ports.  For example:
set port vlan ge.1.48;ge.2.48;lag.0.1 10 modify-egress
set vlan egress 20,30 ge.1.48;ge.2.48;lag.0.1 tagged
2) Bind aadminkey to lag port:
switch(su)->set lacp aadminkey lag.0.1 1
3) Bind ports to aadminkey:
switch(su)->set port lacp port ge.1.48 aadminkey 1
switch(su)->set port lacp port ge.2.48 aadminkey 1
4) Enable LACP on the physical ports:
switch(su)->set port lacp port ge.1.48 enable
switch(su)->set port lacp port ge.2.48 enable
5) Verify lag port is operational:
switch(su)->show port status lag.0.1
            Alias          Oper     Admin     Speed
Port (truncated) Status Status (bps) Duplex Type
---------   ------------   -------  -------   ---------   -------   ------------
lag.0.1 Up Up 2.0G Full lag
switch(su)->

Additional notes
LAGs can have ports ondifferent blades or members
Note: Ports in LAG will show Oper Status = "dormant
Note: Dormant Ports will show  "non-forwarding reason for port on SID  is Discarding not due to any exceptional condition"
Note:  Each "aadminkey" needs to be different for each lag.

In order to clear a port from a lag use the following commands:
switch(su)->clear lacp aadminkey lag.0.1
switch(su)->clear port lacp port ge.1.48 aadminkey
To configure "short timers" (default is every 30 seconds, short is every second use the following commands:
switch(su)->set port lacp port ge.1.1-2 aadminstate lacptimeout
switch(su)->set port lacp port ge.2.1-2 padminstate lacptimeout
If singleportlag is enable,a single port will form a lag, and the command to disable lacp on the single port is:
set port lacp port <port-string> disable
