Part 2 option 1: Connect the EXOS switch to the cloud running version 30.6 or newer.  When running EXOS 30.6 or newer no special setup is needed if the below information is provided via DHCP.
  1. The switch must have an IP address and default gateway
  • That can be provided by DHCP
  1. The switch must have a valid DNS configured
  • That can be provided by DHCP

Part 2 option 2: Pre EXOS version 30.6

1. The switch must have an IP that has access to the Internet
2. DNS will be required for EXOS Switches to connect to the Cloud by resolving hac.extremecloudiq.com
Example:
# configure dns-client add name-server 1.1.1.1 vr [VR-Default | VR-Mgmt]
# configure dns-client add name-server 4.2.2.2 vr [VR-Default | VR-Mgmt]

3. The summitX-30.x.x.x-eciq_agent-0.1.0.11.xmod needs to be installed that matched your installed EXOS version. (reboot or use "run update" command)
4. Create the ECIQ process to allow the switch to connect to the cloud:
Using VR-Mgmt:
create process iqagent python-module exos.apps.iqagent start auto vr VR-MGMT

Using VR-Default:
create process iqagent python-module exos.apps.iqagent start auto vr VR-Default
5.  Verify the ECIQ process is running:
X460G2-48p-10G4.16 # show process iqagent
Process Name     Version  Restart    State             Start Time        Group
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iqagent          User        0    Ready        Mon Mar  2 20:54:16 2020  Other

Additional notes
  • Make sure DNS is configured on the switch – it will not connect without it.
  • Accounts created with this version of EXOS are not compatible with EXOS 21.x and earlier.
  • You have to recreate the admin name and password - command: create account admin <name> <password>  It will automatically encrypt - Test: sho configuration | inc admin
  • If, after completing these steps, the switch has turned "Green" in the Dashboard, but data such as port statistics and Hostname are not being pulled, please ensure
    enable snmpv3 default-group
    enable snmp access snmp-v1v2c

have been entered into the switch. This is because ExtremeCloudIQ uses SNMPv1v2c to communicate with these switches. When IQ agent is first started, it attempts to enable SNMPv1v2c and SNMPv3, but it does not enable the default-disabled user groups.
To see ExtremeCloud IQ logs:

load script shell.py "cat /usr/local/tmp/eciq/hiveagent.log"

load script shell.py "cat /usr/local/tmp/eciq/agent.log"
