Procedure
There are two options to load patch to device - either through adopting controller (virtual controller) or device itself.
Both required EXEC (enable) mode to be accessible.

To load patch through controller:
 
Load the kernel patch to controller's memory (example for AP7522)
device-upgrade load-image ap7522 ftp://<user>:<passwd>@<hostname|IP>[:port]/path/file/xx.patch

Confirm image was loaded correctly:

Execute below command on the controller to provide APs with the patch.
 
device-upgrade all force no-reboot

Confirm patch is loaded and change the boot to other partition on the AP’s using boot command on each AP
 
boot system primary/secondary

Reload APs from the controller using reload <hostname> or reload on <RF-Domain>

To load patch to AP itself:

Load the kernel patch to AP's memory (example for AP7522)
 
upgrade tftp://<hostname|IP>/xx.patch

If AP does not auto-reload confirm the patch was installed successfully and if necessary, change bootable partition
