TitleHow to backup configuration from old Securestack switch to replacement Securestack switch
Objective
How to backup configuration from old Securestack switch to load onto replacement Securestack switch
Environment
  • Securestack
  • C3-Series
  • B3-Series
  • B5-Series
  • C5-Series
  • All firmware versions
Procedure
  1. Save configuration on original switch:
show config outfile configs/config.cfg
   2. Copy configuration to a TFTP server:
copy configs/config.cfg tftp://<TFTP_SERVER_IP>/config.cfg
   3. Setup an IP address, subnet mask and gateway on the new switch, and ensure you can ping the TFTP server:
set ip address <IP_ADDRESS> mask <SUBNET_MASK> gateway <GATEWAY>
   4. Copy configuration from TFTP server to new switch:
copy tftp://<TFTP_SERVER_IP>/configs.cfg configs/config.cfg
   5. Load configuration file and reboot (answering 'y' for yes):
configure configs/config.cfg
This command will reset the system and clear current configuration.
Are you sure you want to continue (y/n) [n]?y

Additional notes
  • TFTP backup of "show config all" is not acceptable, and will result in an error when transferred back to Switch. This is Functioning as Designed FAD
  • Windows firewall needs to be disabled on tftp server or the file transfer will fail
  • Steps 1 and 2 only if backing up config to a tftp server without replacing a switch
  • Best practice to do step 1 prior to making any changes to switch configuration. This is to make sure a known working configuration is always available if fall back is needed
