How to change the IP address on an interface for EOS Routers, such as N/S/K/7100-Series
Environment
  • K-Series
  • S-Series
  • N-Series
  • 7100-Series
  • All firmware versions
Procedure
  1. Enter router configuration mode: configure terminal
  2. Enter interface configuration: interface vlan.0.<VLAN_ID>
  3. Remove previous IP address: no ip address <IP_ADDRESS> <SUBNET_MASK>
  4. Enter the new IP address: ip address <IP_ADDRESS> <SUBNET_MASK>
Additional notes
If removing a primary IP address when secondary IP addresses are present, the Secondary IP addresses must be removed first before the primary can be modified.

If you need to move the secondary to primary with minimal down time.

1. copy the no  form of the command to remove the secondary, then on a second line enter the command to configure the primary using the secondary IP
2.  Enter interface config mode 
3.  Paste the two lines into the CLI
