TitleHow to change the WLAN password (passphrase) in WiNG
Objective
To change an existing WLAN password with a new one on a WiNG controller or AP.
Environment
  • WiNG 5.x
  • WiNG APs
  • Swift UI
  • Enterprise UI
  • WiNG controllers
  • WiNG Virtual controllers
  • SSH (Secure Shell)
  • WebUI
  • CLI
  • Putty.exe or similar client
  • Browser: Chrome / Firefox
  • Encryption: WPA2 (CCMP)
Procedure
Please follow these steps to change the WLAN password:
  1. Swift UI:
    1. Log into the AP via Web browser
    2. Navigate to Configuration >> Wireless
    3. Select the WLAN on which the password needs to be changed
    4. Under Security >> Key, change the password (8 - 63 ASCII or 64 HEX characters)
    5. Click on Apply to save the changes

  1. Enterprise UI:
    1. From the Configuration tab, go to Wireless >> Wireless LANs
    2. Select the WLAN on which the password needs to be changed >> click on Edit (bottom right side of page)
    3. From Security, navigate to Key Settings and change the Pre-Shared Key
    4. Click on 'OK' and then 'Commit and Save' to apply the changes

  1. CLI:
    1. Log in via SSH or console and run the following commands:
>en
#conf t
#WLAN <WLAN-name>
#wpa-wpa2 psk 0 <new-passphrase>
#com wr
#show context
Additional notes
IMPORTANT: If wireless clients are still displaying previous WLAN security settings (after you had changed them on your APs/Controllers), you will need to remove (Forget) the wireless profile from said wireless client devices and recreate it anew.
