How to configure Band Steering on a WLAN.
Environment
  • All Summit WM3000 Series Controllers
  • All Altitude independent Access Points 
  • All WiNG Controler
  • All WiNG independent Acces points​
  • WiNG Firmware version 5.4.x and above 
Procedure
The following is the procedure to enable Band Steering, balancing loads between 2.4GHz & 5GHz on the same AP.

1. Browse into the WiNG 5 controller/device
2. Click on "Configuration"
3. Click on "Wireless"

4. Double click on WLAN on which you want to activate band steering
5. Click on "Client Load Balancing" from the center menu
6. Check the "Enforce Client Load Balancing" box
7. Click "OK", "Commit & Save"

8. Click on "Configuration"
9. Click on "Profiles" or "System Profile" if your on AP and skip to step 11
10. Click on the AP profile you wish to add band steering to

11. Click on "Advanced" from the center menu
12. Click on "Client Load Balancing" and check the "Balance Band Loads by Ratio" box.
13. Click "Ok", "Commit & Save"

Additional notes
Band Steering is now enabled.It is recommended you implement band steering across the entire AP profiles.
