« Go Back

Information

TitleHow to configure a new tag on top of transiting tagged traffic (QinQ) on Netiron devices
Objective
To configure a new tag on top of transiting tagged traffic (Super Aggregated VLANs) (QinQ) on Netiron devices.
Environment
  • Netiron
  • MLX/XMR
  • CER/CES
Procedure
  1. In Super Aggregated VLANs, the outer VLAN and the inner VLAN must use different tag types; hence make sure that the device generating the inner tag has a different tag type configured from what you are configuring to be the outer tag. You can configure the tag type (the default tag is 8100) using the command: device(config)# tag-type 9100
  2. The port (under the VLAN) that has the incoming (single) tagged traffic, needs to be marked as 'untagged': device(config-vlan-101)# untagged ethernet 1/1
  3. The port (under the same VLAN) that needs to be tagged with the aforementioned VLAN tag and forward dual tagged traffic, needs to be marked as 'tagged': device(config-vlan-101)# tagged ethernet 2/1
