TitleHow to configure a port when an SR or LR SFP+ optic is plugged into a multi-speed port
Objective
  • How to configure a port when SR or LR SFP+ optic is plugged into a multi-speed port
Environment
  • EXOS
  • Summit
  • SR & LR SFP+ Optics
Procedure
  • When SR SFP+ optic is plugged into a multi-speed port on X620 or other switch, Auto negotiation has to be turned off for the port to become active.

X670V-48x # show ports 14 configuration no-refresh

  • Our SFP+ (Part 10301 & 10302) modules are ONLY 10G, therefore when autonegotiation is turned on and the transceiver is plugged into the port, the following log is thrown because 10G requires autonegotiation to be turned off.
05/19/2017 10:28:20.46 <Warn:HAL.Port.OpticCfgCflct> The configuration for the SF+_SR optic module is not correct - please configure port 14 for auto-negotiation Off and speed 10000
02/06/2018 14:03:30.82 <Warn:HAL.Port.OpticCfgCflct> Slot-1: The configuration for the SF+_LR optic module is not correct - please configure port 1:28 for auto-negotiation Off and speed 10000
Additional notes
  • This is expected/normal behavior because our SR & LR SFP+ modules are ONLY 10G even though the switch port will support 100/1G/10G speeds.
  • By default, an EXOS switch has auto negotiation set to ON for 1G ports and set to OFF for 10G ports.
