Procedure
 
# configure firmware [auto-install | install-on-demand]    
* The default is "install-on-demand".

Use "auto-install" parameter to configure a switch to automatically upgrade the BootROM images on the MSM and I/O modules installed in BlackDiamond X8 and 8K switches if a newer BootROM image is detected during the ExtremeXOS upgrade process. The switch does not prompt you to confirm the firmware upgrade.

BootROM images are bundled with ExtremeXOS software images for BlackDiamond 8K and X8 platforms. ExtremeXOS automatically compares the existing BootROM image with the BootROM image bundled with the ExtremeXOS image when you download a new version of ExtremeXOS to the alternate (inactive) partition.
