Information

TitleHow to configure software-controlled redundant ports
Objective
How to configure software-controlled redundant ports
Environment
  • Summit
  • BlackDiamond
  • EXOS
Procedure
To configure a software-controlled redundant port, use the following command:

configure ports <primaryPort> redundant <secondaryPort> { link [ on | off ] }

The first port specified is the primary port and the second port is the redundant port. By default, the redundant link will stay down as long as the primary port is active. However, using the "link on" option will keep the redundant link active while blocking all traffic across it.

Additional notes
The Smart Redundancy feature is enabled by default with software-controlled redundant ports. With Smart Redundancy enabled, when the primary port becomes active, the switch redirects all traffic to the primary port and blocks the redundant port again.
