How to create an ACL rule to block IPv6 traffic

« Go Back

Information

TitleHow to create an ACL rule to block IPv6 traffic
Objective
How do I create an ACL rule to block IPv6 traffic in EXOS?
Environment
  • EXOS
  • BlackDiamond
  • Summit
Procedure
The example rule below will block IPv6 traffic from any source address on the ports where it's applied:

entry block_any_v6 {
   if {
      source-address 0:: / 0;
   }
   then {
      deny;
   }
}

This example rule works similarly, but blocks all traffic matching the IPv6 ethertype:

entry block_v6_ethertype{
   if{
      ethernet-type ether-p-ipv6;
   }
   then {
      deny;
   }
}
Additional notes
See How to create and apply an ACL in EXOS for details on how to create and apply a policy file.
