To enable or disable switching on Netiron devices in a global or per interface level
Environment

Procedure
  1. By default, XMRs and MLXs have the 'route-only' feature ENABLED by default, which prevents the device from receiving/forwarding layer-2 packets.
  2. To enable switching of packets in addition to routing for the whole router:
    MLX(config)#no route-only
  3. To enable switching of packets in addition to routing for a specific interface:
    MLX(config-if-e1000-1/1)#no route-only
  4. By default, CERs and CESs have the 'route-only' feature DISABLED by default, which allows the device to receive/forward layer-2 packets in addition to routing.
  5. To disable switching of packets to allow routing only for the whole router:
    CER(config)#route-only
  6. To disable switching of packets to allow routing only for a specific interface:
    CER(config-if-e1000-1/1)#route-only
