Information

TitleHow to reset the config of a WiNG AP or Wireless Controller to Factory Defaults via CLI
Objective
To clear or default the config once logged into the AP or controller via CLI (SSH or console)
Environment
  • AP75xx series
  • AP65xx series
  • AP76xx series
  • AP71xx series
  • NX 4500/6500/7500/9500/9600
  • RFS4000/6000/7000
  • VX9000
  • WiNG 5.x
  • SSH
  • Console access
  • Login credentials available
  • Startup-config
Procedure
Log into the AP or controller via SSH (Secure Shell) or console port (baud rate 19200 or 115200) using Putty.exe or similar client and run the following commands:

>en
#delete startup-config
Delete startup-config? y
#reload
The system will be rebooted, do you want to continue? (y/n):y

Alternatively (see Additional notes ):

>en
#erase startup-config
Erase startup-config? (y/n):y
#reload
The system will be rebooted, do you want to continue? (y/n):y

Additional notes
  • When you type "yes" to confirm reload, you might be prompted to save the running config (if earlier changes have been made and not saved). Always reply with "No". If by mistake you type "Yes", you would have recreated the startup-config file. In this case simply repeat the procedure to delete the startup-config.
  • This procedure applies to all WiNG 5.x firmware and is applicable only from CLI.
  • Erase startup-config will clear the config;however, some files remain on the AP. If the intention is to completely reset the AP back to factory default then the following procedure will have to be followed: How to restore WiNG Wireless Controllers and Access Points to factory default from CLI
