TitleHow to get Bonjour to work between wired and wireless for Airplay, Airprint, or other mDNS related protocols
Objective
How to get Bonjour/MDNS multicast to work between wired and wireless users on a Bridged at Controller wireless service
Environment
  • IndentiFi Wireless Controller
  • Bonjour
  • MDNS
  • Apple
  • AirPlay
  • AirPrint

Procedure
  1. Locate the Multicast Filters Tab on the Topology the wireless users connect to
  2. Locate  mDNS/Bonjour multicast group 224.0.0.251 from the Defined groups drop down box and click add
  3. Locate Multicast bridging, make sure that options is turned on.
  4. If this topology is Bridged at the Controller, you must also enable Multicast on the physical front panel port of the IdentiFi Controller
  5. Select Controller from the top of the page
  6. Select the Network tab down the left side
  7. Select Topologies
  8. Select the Multicast Support drop down box at the bottom of that screen, change it from disabled to a front panel port (ESAx), click save
To bridge bonjour from one subnet to another, a filter rule must be defined in the source client subnet to bridge the bonjour traffic to the destination network:

     9.  From the Roles section, the Authenticated Role will need to have a Static Egress for the VLAN under the Advanced button of the Role by highlighting the Bonjour Topology from the left and using the arrows to move it to the right side, then Click OK > Save:
