To prevent (hide) the WLAN SSID from being broadcast on an WiNG AP or controller
Environment
  • All WiNG APs
  • All Wing controllers
  • WiNG 5.x
  • SSH
  • CLI
Procedure
Prerequisites:
  • SSH (secure shell) client such as Putty.exe
  • Successful ping to AP
Instructions:
  1. SSH into the controller or AP and run the following commands:
>en
#conf t
#wlan <wlan name> 
#no broadcast-ssid
#no answer-broadcast-probes
#com wr
#show context

Example:
>en
#conf t 
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. 
#wlan extremetest 
#no broadcast-ssid 
#no answer-broadcast-probes 
#com wr
[OK]
#show context
wlan extremetest
ssid extremetest
vlan 1
bridging-mode local
encryption-type none
authentication-type none
no broadcast-ssid
no answer-broadcast-probes
