« Go Back

Information

TitleHow to limit the number of MAC addresses learned on a port
Objective
How to limit the number of MAC addresses learned on a port
Environment
  • EXOS 15.7 and Higher
Procedure
The MAC limit learning feature limits the total amount of FDB entries that can be learned on a specific port.

Command:
configure mac-locking ports <port_list> first-arrival limit-learning <number_of_addresses>
Additional notes
Example Command:  The below command configures dynamic MAC limit learning on port 15 by restricting the number of MAC addresses or end station addresses to the first 2 addresses learned.  Any number over 2 will not be allowed to communicate on this port.  This command only limits, and does not lock MAC addresses to a single port, so as FDB's age out more end station addresses can take it's place.

configure mac-locking ports 15 first-arrival limit-learning 2
