« Go Back

Information

TitleHow to Rate Limit Multicast or Broadcast Flooded traffic on EXOS
Objective
How to rate limit multicast or broadcast flooded traffic
Environment
EXOS All
Procedure
For multicast:
  • configure ports <port_list> rate-limit flood multicast <PPS>
Similarly, for broadcast:
  • configure ports <port_list> rate-limit flood broadcast <PPS>
This can also be used for unknown unicast traffic:
  • configure ports <port_list> rate-limit flood unknown-destmac <PPS>
Additional notes
The configured limit should be set high enough that normal traffic is not affected, which will depend on the local network.

This feature is similar to the "broadcast suppression" supported by EOS switches.
