TitleHow to replace a faulty IdentiFi Wireless Access Point or Deploy a new Access Point
Objective
  • How to replace a faulty IdentiFi Wireless Access Point.
  • How to deploy a new access point.
Environment
  • IdentiFi
  • All Firmware
  • All Access Point Models

Procedure
  1. Deploy Wireless APs to their corresponding network locations.
  2. If the IdentiFi Wireless Appliances AP Registration port is on the same network as the AP, the access point will either automatically find the controller and be auto approved to connect up to the controller or it will be pending approval. This depends on the setting configured via the controller web GUI under AP--->Global Settings--->AP Registration.

Automatic Approval:
  1. Once the Wireless APs are powered on, they automatically begin the discovery process of the IdentiFi Wireless Appliance.
  2. If the AP registration setting is set to Automatic Approval and the AP is on the same L2 network as the IdentiFi Wireless Appliance, it should connect to the controller and pull down a default configuration (If not skip to step 6).
  3. Configure the AP as needed (radio settings, channel, antenna or power)

Restricted Access (Pending State)
  1. Once the Wireless APs are powered on, they automatically begin the discovery process of the IdentiFi Wireless Appliance.
  2. If the AP registration setting is set to Restricted Access and the AP is on the same L2 network as the IdentiFi Wireless Appliance, it should connect to the controller and show up as Pending. The AP at this point will need to be approved for service. (Follow Steps 1-4 in the screen shot below)
