TitleHow to specify 3rd party location server in WiNG deployment?
Objective
How to map a RTL policy to resolve location of wireless clients to 3rd party server?
Environment
  • All Summit WM3000 Series Controllers
  • ExtremeWireless WiNG Controllers
  • ExtremeWireless WiNG Access Points
  • WiNG 5 Software
  • Locationing API (RSSI Sensor Feed)
Procedure
In case you do not want to use Extreme Location service to monitor wireless clients, you may use 3rd party solution.

Where can I find documentation for Extreme Location?

Policy used for this function is called RTL server policy. When configured and applied on an access point (AP7522, AP7532, AP8432, AP8533), this policy enables the sending of RSSI feeds from the access point to a third-party Euclid server. The RTL server policy provides the exact location (URL) of the Euclid server.
RSSI feeds sent are as per the sensor-policy configured and applied on the access point.
Therefore, ensure that a sensor policy, with the rssi-interval-duration specified, is existing, configured, and applied on the access points. How to below:

How to create a sensor-policy in WiNG deployment?

To initiate RSSI feed posts to the Euclid locationing server, use the RTL server policy on the:
  • AP’s device/profile context, or
  • AP’s RF Domain context.
VX(config)# rtl-server-policy Euclid
