Procedure
  • Navigate to the Controller tab in the appliance management GUI
  • Select the Network tab on the left hand side of the screen
  • Select Utilities
  1. Select the port you wish to take the tcpdump on, name the file accordingly (default is mgmt_traffic_dump.cap)
  2. Select Start, click ok on the popup notification, run the test or duplicate an issue, click on stop when done
  3. Select export to download and review the file

Additional notes
Tcpdump off the wireless appliances management interface will show all the packets that interact with the management ip. This can be useful for RADIUS troubleshoots or Captive Portal issues. The tcpdump utility does not capture in promiscuous mode, you will not see user data unless it directly communicates with the host IP (like captive portal).
