TitleHow to troubleshoot PTP Boundary Clock Configuration
Objective
In the configuration of the Precision Time Protocol (PTP), a Boundary Clock is configured between the Grandmaster and the Transparent or Ordinary Clock.  The boundary clock should therefore be reachable from the Grandmaster Clock and vice-versa.  The following commands can help in verifying the status of each aspect of the configuration:
Environment
  • Summit X460-G2
  • Summit X770
  • E4G-200
  • E4G-400
Procedure
  • Verify the status of the PTP protocol and verify the Servo state
  • Ensure that the each participating VLAN is properly configured 
  • Check the details of the end-to-end transparent PTP instance configured and the timestamping mode on the ports
  • Show interface information for the given clock port that is added to the specified clock instance
show network-clock ptp 
show network-clock ptp boundary
show network-clock ptp end-to-end-transparent ports <ports> 
show network-clock ptp <boundary or ordinary> vlan <vlan-name
