Objective
  • How to view Session Lifetime statistics for Guest Portal user accounts on IdentiFi Wireless controller
  • A Session Lifetime is how much accumulative time a user can be connected to the wireless network (eg. 3 hours is not 3 hours from creation of account, but can be used over however many days account is active for)
  • Session Lifetime value will increment when a user disassociates from the SSID
Environment
  • IdentiFi Wireless
  • All software versions
  • Guest Portal Session Lifetime counter
Procedure
To determine how much time has been used on a Guest Portal account for the Session Lifetime:
1. Click VNS Tab > WLAN Services > select WLAN service with Guest portal configured
2. Click Auth & Acct Tab > Configure button > Manage Guest Users button
3. On the bottom right, click "Export" under the File Management section
4. Open the downloaded XML file with Microsoft Excel and review Column K to see used Session Lifetime displayed in seconds

Here is a breakdown of each column as described in our Wireless User Guide:


Column > Value
A= User ID
B= User name
C= Password
D= Description
E= Account activation date
F= Account lifetime, measured in days
G= Session lifetime, measured in hours
H= Is the account enabled (1) or disabled (0)
I= Time of day, start time
J= Time of day, duration
K= Total time of the session lifetime that has been used, measured in minutes
L= Is the guest user account synchronized on a secondary controller in an availability pair, yes (1) no (0)

Note: Guest accounts that expire should be purged after 72 hours of the expiration date/time.
