Information

TitleHow validate and repair EEPROM on the Summit X650 before upgrading
Objective
Corrupt EEPROM files associated with VIM1 modules resident in Summit X650s have been found to cause boot loops during an upgrade to EXOS 12.5 and later. A process was developed for testing VIM1 EEPROM before an upgrade and initiating a repair of the files if corruption is detected.
Environment
  • Summit X650
  • VM1-SS module
  • EXOS 12.4 and earlier
Procedure
Testing the switch EEPROM requires debug mode access. Contact GTAC for assistance before attempting to upgrade.
