TitleNetsight Console - How to allocate more memory to MYSQL and Netsight Server
Objective

For systems with large amounts of CPU and memory, there are pre-tuned configuration files in the install that can be used  and modified for large Netsight databases
Environment
  • Netsight Suite
  • Extreme Management Control
  • All versions
Procedure
Shutdown NetSight and NetSight Database (MySQL):
<  netsight install directory >/scripts/stopserver.sh
  1. Verify value of ?XmX*m  as defined in values of < netsight install >/services/nsserver.cfg
  2. Modify the value of Xmx.  For large databases you might push this to 4096; For VM systems you can push this to about half of the memory allocation for the virtual machine
  3. Save the file

Change my.ini file to accommodate a larger database:
  1. copy < netsight install >/mysql/my.ini to < netsight install >/mysql/my.ini.orig
  2. Copy < netsight install >/mysql/my-large.ini to < netsight install >/mysql/my.ini
  3. Rename < netsight install >/mysql/data/ib_logfile0 < netsight install >/mysql/data/ib_logfile0.orig
  4. Rename < netsight install >/mysql/data/ib_logfile1 < netsight install >/mysql/data/ib_logfile1.orig

Restart NetSight services:
< netsight install directory > /scripts/startserver.sh
