TitleQ&A Are Firmware Images Greater Than 2048MB / 2GB Supported In Extreme Management Center Inventory Manager?
Question
Are firmware images greater than 2048MB / 2GB supported in Extreme Management Center Inventory Manager?
Environment
  • Extreme Management Center (XMC, formerly NetSight)
  • Firmware
  • SLX
Answer
Firmware images greater than 2048 MB (2GB) can not be uploaded using the Extreme Management Center GUI Firmware Upload functionality due to browser-based limitations with files greater than 2GB or 4GB. These browsers include Internet Explorer 11, Edge, Edge Chromium. While Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox do not appear to have these limitations the Firmware Upload GUI is capped at 2048MB for all browsers.

This limitation impacts the ability to directly support SLX-based firmware upgrades which exceed 2GB in size.

Firmware images greater than 2048 MB (2GB) must be uploaded manually to XMC in the respective firmware repositories / subdirectories using FTP or SCP.
Additional notes
See 8.2.6.5 or above release notes for the manual upload instructions.
