Question
Can we use OIDs to monitor stack health and stack size of an ERS 4590?
Environment
  • ERS 4950
  • BOSS
Answer
Yes, we can use OIDs to monitor stack health and stack size of an ERS4590.

See below:

1) To monitor overall health of stack

1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.10 walk - overall health of stack

Response:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.10.3.10.0- health of unit 1
.1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.10.3.20.0- health of unit 2

2)To monitor stack count:

a) enable StackErrorNotificationEnabled- You configure expected number in stack and if this changes the device sends trap

b) You can walk on 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.6.8 for stack size
get response like:
iso.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.6.8.1.0 = STRING: "4950GTS-PWR+ HW:00"
iso.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.6.8.2.0 = STRING: "4950GTS-PWR+ HW:RoB.0"
iso.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.6.8.3.0 = STRING: "4950GTS-PWR+ HW:RoC.0"
iso.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.6.8.4.0 = STRING: "4950GTS-PWR+ HW:00"

c) State would be : Get for my stack of 4 units
1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.10.3.10.0- unit 1
1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.10.3.20.0- unit 2
1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.10.3.30.0- unit 3
1.3.6.1.4.1.45.1.6.3.3.1.1.10.3.40.0- unit 4
