Title802.1x Authentication problem where RADIUS packets are not being sent to RADIUS Server
Question
  • 802.1x is not working
  • Radius packet not is being sent to radius server or there is no authentication success/failure message or logs
Environment
  • SecureStack
  • C5-series
  • All firmware versions
  • S/N/K-series
Answer
  • Ports being set to 'force-auth' disables authentication on the client ports.
  • This is commonly confused for requiring authentication on the port
  • In order to force authentication on a port the mulitauth port mode needs to be set to authentication required:
  • set multiauth port mode force-reqd <PORT_STRING>

Specifies the port(s)’ multiple authentication mode as:
• auth‐opt — Authentication optional
• auth‐reqd — Authentication required
• force‐auth — Authentication considered
• force‐unauth — Authentication disabled
