Information

TitleAccess points in a NAT configuration
Question
Can I deploy my access points on a private/public NAT interface?
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless
  • ExtremeCloud
  • Firmware 9.12.03
  • NAT
  • Cloud Wireless
Answer

Deploying APs behind a branch NAT appliance is supported. APs behind a NAT (Branch/home office) will communicate correctly with their management entity (ExtremeWireless appliance) or ExtremeCloud.

Additional notes
Deployment of ExtremeWireless appliances behind a NAT is not supported. The appliance’s interface IP must be publicly exposed to the remote APs, even if the APs themselves are behind NAT. Controller’s behind NAT are unable to support firmware management and or high-availability inter-appliance functions.
