What does the following message mean, and why did a reboot occur?

11/01/2014 10:30:30.95 <Warn:Kern.Card.Warning> Slot-1: exvlan: fdbQueueIsFull:149: fdbLearn+0x58/0x1118 [exvlan]: Exceeded high watermark 89367. Messages will be dropped once queue contains 119156 messages
Environment
  • X460-48t (Stack)
  • EXOS 15.3.1.4
Answer
  • The cause of the problem was due to the X460/X440 (backup) running out of memory.
  • On Summit X460/X440 series switches, slot 2 reboots when more than the maximum permitted FDB entries are learned
Additional notes

  • It is recommended to monitor FDB entries for any possible limitations if this issue is encountered.
  • Clear FDB entries on a regular basis as a workaround.
