TitleCan we remove the summarisation from MPLS VLL instance down SNMP trap
Question
When multiple MPLS VLL instances go down the SNMP trap (OID brcdIp.3.1.2.0.1) automatically summarises the instances to one trap.
For example

Fri Feb 22 01:08:21 2019 pwDown WARNING:medium "Status Events" test01.a.b - Foundry Trap: MPLS Pseudo-Wire Down: MPLS: VLL instance indices 3-7, 9-14 for Peer 10.2.3.4 are down

Is it possible to change the behaviour to send one trap per PW (Pseudo-wire) instance down ?
Environment
  • NetIron
  • MLXe
  • CER
  • CES
Answer
There is currently no option to remove the summarisation.

Additional notes
In  the IETF RVC for the PwDown trap (https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5601)

There is a reference to the summerisation

"For cases where a contiguous range of cross-connects have
transitioned into the down(2) and lowerLayerDown(6) states
at roughly the same time, the device SHOULD issue a single
notification for each range of contiguous indexes in an
effort to minimize the emission of a large number of
notifications."
