Here is an example of a logs contains SNMP authentication failure.
Mar6 16:03:38:I:SNMP Auth. failure, intruder IP:172.29.197.1
Mar6 16:03:38:I:SNMP Auth. failure, intruder IP:172.29.197.1
Mar6 16:03:25:I:SNMP Auth. failure, intruder IP:172.29.197.1
In this example, someone attempted to access the Brocade device three times using invalid SNMP community strings. The unsuccessful attempts indicate SNMP Community string is wrong. You can advise customer to stop polling from this IP or use the correct community string.
We can also Restrict SNMP access to certain IP node, using the following command.
adx1k-5(config)#snmp-client 172.29.208.23
You will see the following error log if adifferent IP node try to access SNMP.
Mar6 16:20:09:I:Security : SNMP access from src IP 172.29.197.1 rejected
