TitleHow to check the Fan serial numbers in a Summit stack from the Back-up/Stand-by node?
Question

How to check the Fan serial numbers in a Summit stack from the Back-up/Stand-by node?

Environment
  • Summit Stack

  • All EXOS

Answer
  • Telnet to the Back-up node from the Master node and execute "show fan detail". In the similiar way to fetch the Fan serial# of the stand-by nodes, please telnet to the respective stand-by nodes and execute "show fan detail".

  • Else console into the respective nodes to fetch the Fan serial# by executing "show fan detail".

Additional notes
Summit X690 switches have six fan trays. "show fans" on unstacked X690s will provide serials of all fan trays. "show fans" on stacked X690 will provide the serial number of only the first tray on each X690 node where it is executed. Further information on obtaining fan serials from stacked X690 switches is available in the following article.
