What is the difference between NAC pre-registration and self registration?

Answer
Pre-registration involves supplying user information to an admin.  This info is entered into the NAC database and the user is registered.  User receives a ticket with credentials allowing networks access.
Example use:  Hotel guest access

Self registration allows an already registered user to enter specifics of a new byod device allowing the byod network access. 
Example use: Authorized domain user registers an x-box for network access via portal.
