In software version deployments above version 8.2 the linked article deprecates this one.Analytics License changes for 8.2 are client based, not flow based.
Purview licensing allows deployment flexibility by granting flow rate and flow client capacity to an entire deployment, regardless of the number of Purview appliances. The NMS Advanced license (NMS-ADV) grants a basic flow rate and flow client capacity. The NMS-ADV type license is required for use with Purview. Additional AnalyticsPurview licenses can then be added to extend that capacity, if needed.
The table below shows the different Analytics Purview licenses, and the flow rate capacity and flow client capacity granted by that license. The flow rate capacity is the number of flows per minute (FPM) that can be processed across all Purview appliances
with a maximum of 3,000,000 FPM. The flow client capacity is the total number of application flow clients that can be reported system-wide with a maximum of 50,000 clients.
Purview licensing is enforced through NetSigh
|Licence Name||Flow Rate Capacity||Flow Client Capacity|
|NMS-ADV-XXX ||3,000 FPM || 100 clients|
|PV-FPM-50K ||50,000 FPM || 50,000 clients|
|PV-FPM-100K ||100,000 FPM ||50,000 clients|
|PV-FPM-500K ||500,000 FPM ||50,000 clients|
|PV-FPM-1M ||1,000,000 FPM||50,000 clients|
|PV-FPM-3M||3,000,000 FPM|| 50,000 clients|
t. The capacity allowed by each license is applied to the entire deployment
and is calculated by adding together the usage numbers for each individual Purview appliance in the deployment. The capacity is checked on a continual basis. If the flow rate capacity is exceeded, an event is logged in the Purview event log and a notification is displayed at the bottom of the OneView screen. If the flow client capacity is exceeded, the client data for the clients beyond the capacity is not persisted. Using Licenses to Establish Flow Rate Capacity
The following example shows how you can select Purview licenses to achieve a desired flow rate capacity for your deployment.
The NMS-ADV license provides a basic flow rate capacity of 3,000 flows per minute. If you add additional Purview licenses, the flow rate capacity will be increased by the amount provided by the added licenses, up to the system-wide maximum of 3 million flows per minute.
For example, if you add the PV-FPM-100K license, then you would have a total flow rate capacity of 103,000.
3,000 + 100,000 = 103,000 FPM
If you then add the PV-FPM-50K license, you would have a total flow rate capacity of 153,000.
3,000 + 100,000 + 50,000 = 153,000 FPM
Using Licenses to Establish Flow Client Capacity
The NMS-ADV license provides a basic flow client capacity of 100. If you add additional Purview licenses, the flow client capacity increases to 50,000, but does not increase beyond the system-wide maximum of 50,000 clients.
For example, if you add the PV-FPM-100K license, then you would have a total flow client capacity of 50,000. If you then add the PV-FPM-50K license, the flow client capacity still remains at 50,000.
Analytics are not stopped with 50k clients
, merely we store data only for 50k clients (25k per Purview appliance).
Application Statistics, location statistics, device type statistics and hourly statistics are some of the analytics that are not calculated based on end system limitations.
The appliance calculates all kinds of statistics off of more than 25k clients per appliance. It just stores client specific information for no more than 25k clients per appliance maximum.
We store the 25k most active clients per appliance.
