SSH doesn't work at all and CLI freezes sometimes when show Management output is requested

TitleSSH doesn't work at all and CLI freezes sometimes when show Management output is requested
Question
  1. Establishing a SSH connection takes more time, there is a considerable time delay from the time the password is entered to the time the device prompt it shown. At times the SSH doesn't work at all and connection keeps crashing/refusing.
  2. CLI freezes sometimes when "show Management" or lengthy "show" command's output is executed.
Environment
  • All G2 Platforms
  • EXOS 21.1.1 & 21.1.2
  • SSH
Answer
  1. Establishing a SSH connection takes too long before the prompt is shown or if the ssh process doesn't work and ssh connection keeps crashing/refusing. The temporary workaround would be to gracefully restart the exsshd process by using the following command:

* Slot-1 Stack.2 # restart process exsshd
Do you want to save configuration changes to currently selected configuration
file (primary.cfg)? (y or n) Yes
Saving configuration on master ......... done!
Synchronizing configuration to backup ..... done!
Step 1: terminating process exsshd gracefully ...
Step 2: starting process exsshd ...
Restarted process exsshd successfully
Slot-1 Stack.3 #
Please note that user traffic should not be affected by restarting the "exsshd" process.

      2. If CLI freezes, when "show Management" output is requested or when "show" commands produce lengthy outputs then the temporary workaround would be to restart the switch to resolve this issue.

This behavior is a known issue in 21.1.1 including all the patch versions & 21.1.2 and addressed in CR xos0063806. Will be fixed in upcoming releases as below,
  • EXOS 16.2.2 (released)
  • EXOS 22.2.1 (released)
  • EXOS 21.1.3 (released)
  • EXOS 22.3.1 (not released yet)
