TitleWhat does the data in the dcs file from an AP trace tarball show
Question
What does the data in the dcs file from an AP trace tarball show?
Environment
  • identifi Wireless
  • Firmware 9.21.x
  • Firmware 10.x
  • dcs text file
  • AP trace tarball
Answer
  • The time is uptime in seconds.  An entry or sample is created every 60 seconds.
  • nfx - is the noise floor where x=0 (5Ghz) x=1 (2.4Ghz) radios
  • rtChRegUtilx and rtChTxUtilx are read for the radio chips.  These are percentage values.
  • rtChRegUtilx is Rx sampling of channel utilisation – anything above 50 usually means busy.
  • rtChTxutilx is Tx usage by ap itself, high values might mean AP couldn't transmit due to noise or congestion.  Maybe be useful to plot against noise floor.
Additional notes
  • The file is not persistent so will be lost after AP reboot
  • Recommend importing the file into Excel to view the data
