- In all cases, only the Least Significant (right-most) three result bits are considered.
- These, read as a binary number, render a decimal value within the range 0-7, which is used to select the physical port instance.
- An exclusive-OR operation renders a 1 result if the two considered bits are 0 and 1 (any order), and a 0 result if the two considered bits are both 0 or both 1.
- For example; 001 XOR 100 = 101 (decimal 5) and 001 XOR 111 = 110 (decimal 6).
